about
Lifts are better than post-punk.
They are a Dublin-based 5-piece band, but go beyond the typical post-punk act in taking influence from a wide range of sources like contemporary classical music, jazz, and folk to create a more expressive music.
This is reflected in their extended line-up, which includes two string players. Lily plays violin, but Clara (granddaughter of The Dubliners' Ciaran Bourke, forget Fontaines) plays a unique home-made instrument she designed and built with frontman Sam Bradshaw.
They released Unconsidered on May 20th; the first track off their debut EP Evergrowing, Overflowing. This EP will be released track-by-track every four weeks.
Their second track, Rotten Apples, will release in June.
Lifts are currently finishing work on their follow-up EP which they plan to release shortly after and in the same fashion.

lyrics
More than you wanted to see
More than thought it could ever be
Swept up in a wave of uncertainty
The god of the gaps will sift through the debris
The god of the gaps will sift through the debris
Inconsiderate, unconsidered
I don't want to live
Inconsiderate, unconsidered
All I thought to give
What choice do I have?
Standing on uneven ground
Seeing pattern upon pattern
In static
Another door opened with the breeze
Blew in and swept you up off of your feet
It lifts you up and then leaves you in the street
But where else could you have expected to be?
But where else could you have expected to be?
More than you wanted to see
Swept up in a wave of uncertainty
It turns back down
And comes back around
Did you know?
Did you know?
Standing on uneven ground
Seeing pattern upon pattern
In static
The debut LP from Chicago's Lightleak is taut, carefully composed indie rock that doesn't lose any urgency to its intricate arrangements. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 23, 2021
